JOSTENS STATE COLLEGE PLANT

The Jostens publishing plant in State College, PA has been in operation for over 30 years, serving schools in a geographic zone of the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and Midwest from Maine to Virginia to Illinois. Each year tens of thousands of yearbooks are produced by the hard-working State College staff, along with a thriving commercial printing business that produces everything from textbooks to novels and non-fiction books to programs and brochures.

Recent innovations over the last several years have meant even better quality printing than our norm, along with further computerization to speed the printing process. For software schools who receive proof pages, the turnaround time from original submission to proof batch mailing has increased dramatically, with many proofs now going back to schools in just days. Add the functionality of submitting yearbook pages to the plant via the Internet and you have a winning combination of quality, service and commitment to the best printing possible.

A big advantage for central and northern Pennsylvania schools is the close proximity of the State College plant. Most schools come to the plant to pick up their completed books, savings hundreds of dollars in shipping costs. Many yearbook staffs take advantage of our open invitation for a NO CHARGE plant tour, spending several hours working with plant consultant Micah Martin and me. Along with an educational tour on just how their yearbook is produced, we also spend time in one of our two libraries to examine other yearbooks, looking for fresh ideas used by other schools. And for those who produce their own custom cover, a free hour with one of our talented Jostens artists leads to a terrific cover design and other materials if needed. We even spring for a tasty lunch for everyone, all on Jostens and me!!
