ALL ABOUT SCOTT

Born June 5, 1963, I've been working for Jostens since summer 1999 after spending 17 years as a broadcast journalist, the last 13 years in State College.

I also earned previous print experience from 1987-92 while working with Blue White Illustrated, a tabloid sports publication covering Penn State University athletic teams.

I earned Certified Journalism Educator (CJE) status from the Journalism Education Association in the spring of 2013. I'm very proud of this distinction as someone who has "walked the walk" and now can "talk the talk" on teaching journalism to school students, yearbook and print and broadcast. Beyond yearbook I've enjoyed assisting several other area student journalism groups to improve their work.

Natives of York County, my wife Jill, a veteran English teacher at Penns Valley High, and I have lived in Centre County for the last 30 years, residing in the Penns Valley School District. We have two daughters: Alison, now a rookie middle school music teacher, and Morgan, a college sophomore. Rounding out the family are cats Pumpkin and Bourke and dog Cooper.

I love to read, especially non-fiction history books, any adventure novels by Clive Cussler and Steve Berry and James Rollins, and several news websites. My eclectic musical tastes range from Sting and classic rock to Frank Sinatra, big band and some classical music. When traveling between schools, I often listen to talk and information radio to stay informed.

I'm also a big sports fan, following Penn State University sports teams (I was once on the football beat with Joe Paterno for 13 years), major league baseball (lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan), NFL football (Pittsburgh Steelers,) and my local high school's teams. I still serve time as the PA announcer for the Penns Valley HS varsity football and soccer teams every fall. When I can be dragged onto a course, I enjoy golf as well as bowling and nature walks as well as playing in a local "old man's" summer softball league.
