HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS BREAK: And Get Ready for a Busy 2020

Hello! We made it to Christmas break! YAY! Some folks are actually off on Friday the 20th while most folks have a half day early dismissal. Not much happening that day, right?

There are always some people who plan to do some yearbook work over the break, no problem. I'll be checking email and messages every day so don't be shy, let me know if you have questions or need assistance.

But be sure to check out my new December updates of The Yearbooking Report, just posted! This month's feature interview deals with something that many students may be getting for Christmas - a new smartphone. How can a mobile device be utilized for our yearbooking work? Be sure to watch this video with ideas and tips, and listen to the podcast for the full interview filled with even more great material.

Check out the widgets in the lower right of the home page here...and don't forget to check out this month's trivia question and then ENTER!

No update next week so I'll see you here again in the New Year!

Let's keep this update brief...

It's a busy week. Many spring yearbook schools have a page submission deadline this week so I know you're pretty busy. And there's a welcomed holiday break to end the calendar year.

So let's quickly touch on a few items...

YEARBOOK WORKING OVER THE BREAK?: I'll be doing some work as well so don't be afraid to contact me if you need help or have a question.

PREP FOR JANUARY: If you haven't already, the downtime of Christmas break offers plenty of time to do some advance planning for when classes resume January 2 or maybe 6. Take just a ltitle time to prep for when your yearbook effort resumes in the new year.

PHOTO CONTEST: Don't forget to enter this year's Jostens Photo Contest at www.jostensphotocontest.com. The holiday break offers plenty of free time to start submitting some entries. Be sure to read the rules and get the necessary permissions from those pictured before submitting.

SELLING MORE YEARBOOKS: They're out there - people who want to buy your yearbook but still haven't gotten your message or your sales information. January is a BIG month for every school's sales effort. Let's work together to not only make a great yearbook but get your message out to EVERYONE right after the holidays.

Advisers, be on the lookout for promotional ideas from me soon in your email box. And the key word is FUN - let's have a good time with cool ideas to sell more copies of your book.

SELLING MORE YEARBOOK ADS: And THESE are out there as well. The economy in our neighborhood still isn't cooking but it isn't cold either. Don't automatically assume ads won't sell, they WILL. Let's go out and get them to give your effort some added revenue. Need some help? Just let me know.

Check out my Video of the Week in the left column here, all you need to know for a great business ad sales campaign. What to do, how to do it, and files to download and use. January isn't too late to get things started!

And the ReplayIt.com business ad widget has the potential to be a real game changer - folks can see your yearbook ads every time they check out your ReplayIt site, offering businesses some real value that could bring them some real $$.

PORTRAIT COMPLAINTS? HERE'S THE SOLUTION: If you're less than impressed with the qiality and service of your portrait photographer this year. remember that our cool new JostensPIX service is coming to central PA next year.

Imagine: less cost for the folks while they have more choices. No money for them to pay upfront. Less hassle for you (everything is shipped home, no more of those photo packets to hand out) while getting faster service, well organized and professional. Imagine having your portrait photos uploaded directly to your Yearbook Avenue website just ONE WEEK after retake day, not a month or more of waiting. Now THAT would make your yearbook life easier!

Learn more at our website: www.jostens.com/jostenxpix. Check out the videos there that show how JostensPIX works and how we're different from the other guys. Then drop me a line and let's meet with the decisionmakers sometime early in the new year to talk about it.

In the meantime, I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020. See you next year!!
